Art Installation
I researched different types of artistic practices in the context of body and art jewellery. I found out the importance of the concept of hybridization, passing on different types (disciplines) of art such as performance, installation, photography and body art towards art jewellery. I reconsidered the relationship between different artistic practices that are connected to the disciplines of photography, art installations, performance art, body-art and theatre with artistic jewellery. Different relationships which are established when different types of art are fasten upon jewellery offer us the possibility of a wider research proving our thesis that the appointed jewellery is art. Crossing jewellery over other artistic fields indicates that the boundaries between artistic disciplines and beyond, outside the scope of art, blurred the definition of art and the borders defined particular artistic discipline.
Art installation as intervention of artist on / in a given space, with the narrative nature of changing the perception of the viewer and space, can also be found in the artistic jewellery. It consists of interrelated objects with a specific narrative content both as in arts as in art jewellery. The interaction between objects and jewellery is conceptually linked to light, sound, taste, type, smell, and various other perceptions. The installation also includes a variety of media such as video, audio, projection and computer media. The necessity of the presence of the viewer in this space is its essential characteristic. Installation in art jewellery is understood as the possibility of presenting, method of representation art jewellery in conjunction with the body, where the exhibition space consists of part of a unique experience in which the viewer enters. The role of the installations in the twenty-first century art jewellery is mainly reflected in the fact that more and more artists understand art installation as essential part of their artistic creation and display of jewellery. As an expressive tool for better understanding of the jewellery itself and placing it in a certain space and time update and upgrade conceptual communication of jewellery and the communication with the audience. Jewellery as a part of art installation is easier to understand for the audience and better accessible as enclosed in a glass showcase.
In the world of art jewellery in the nineties of the twentieth century brought a rediscovery of art installations when (especially in the last decade) more artists instead of exhibiting jewellery in galleries and museums present their work on the streets, they use public space, as an inspiration for their neoconceptual and reflective artistic practices. A certain part of contemporary art jewellery is undergoing changes, which clearly indicates the converting communication function, when aesthetic discourse pass over to processuality (installations, performances, documentation) and new media technologies. There is a tendency to interact with the audience, with intention to present work of art interventions in the public space, which is also known as “relational aesthetics”. Relational aesthetics is a range of artistic practices which comprehend all human relationships for the theoretical and practical starting point and at the same time establish new positions: artist as a researcher, artist as part of the artistic group, artist who creates with all kinds of materials and techniques, artist who becomes an imitator artist and artist who becomes a storyteller.
